The tradition of viticulture meets innovation in the heart of Montalcino

__ History

TRADITION  &   INNOVATION

Cerbaia was born in Montalcino, in the heart of Tuscany between hills and picturesque landscapes, in 1978 from the passion for local viticulture of Fabio Pellegrini, an agronomist passionate about the land and its products. The company covers a total of 12 hectares, of which 5 are vineyards. The remaining land was planted with Olive (300 trees), Arable land (1.5 ha) and Bosco (2.7 ha). The production philosophy of Cerbaia is traditional product-oriented, where the consumer can distinctly recognize the territory and the style of this exceptional wine. Our business is still focused on respecting nature: we make sure that our wines reflect the geographical and territorial characteristics. A small production of high quality like this must be sought and qualified and exceptional customers.

THE TERRITORY

Our wines come from two vineyards, Cerbaia and Bruciate on the characteristic Tuscan galestro. The vineyards are surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and grow in poor soils, well structured, chalky soil: grayish clayey earth and clayey rock (Miocene), a clayey marl formed by a mixture of sand and limestone; they are located at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level, facing North-West, with a warm and dry microclimate, attenuated by gentle breezes, which also guarantees healthier vines and grapes.

Montalcino is a way of life.

The passion for wine and for the whole world that surrounds it: the charm of working in the cellar, the commitment and patience hidden in every bottle.

The altitude and climate of the region around Montalcino allow the Sangiovese grapes of the area to ripen more completely and consistently than those of any other place in Tuscany; these factors contribute to the body, color, extract and tannin commonly associated with Brunello di Montalcino.
